Sailing in the Maldives
The Maldives is blessed with tropical weather all year round - the temperature ranges between 22 °C and 33 °C. The islands are, like almost all other destinations in the Indian Ocean, subject to various monsoons, which influence the wind direction and the amount of rainfall. The south-west monsoon usually begins in June/July and brings the rain. The north-east monsoon from November to April results in dry weather and a weak wind. Sea breezes usually make temperatures more moderate, even on hot summer days. The tidal range is 2-3 meters.
You can sail all year round - but the ideal time to visit the islands is between November and April, making it the perfect place to get away from the cold in the northern hemisphere.
