Fethiye, Göcek & Orhaniye
Turkey can be described as a large peninsula – with the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean Sea to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Turkey is inextricably linked to the sea, and the country's history of sailing spans thousands of years. The earliest culture in present-day Turkey began as far back as 6000 BC. Today, the coasts in this area are some of the least crowded in the Mediterranean – but also some of the most beautiful. A sailing holiday allows you to visit secluded coves along the Hisarönü Gulf, between the Bozburun and Datca peninsulas, and includes the option of a detour to Greece's Dodecanese Islands on the eastern edge of the Aegean Sea. A sailing holiday in Marmaris, Göcek, and Fethiye is the perfect opportunity to sail in unspoiled and protected waters, surrounded by beautiful unspoiled surroundings that look as they did thousands of years ago.
The nearest airport is Dalaman, and we can offer departures from Göcek, Marmaris, and Fethiye.
Sailing opportunities
Sailing around Marmaris, Göcek, and Orhaniye is like a trip through paradise. The passages between anchorages are short, leaving plenty of time to enjoy all the pleasures of sailing, as well as taking shore excursions to explore and sample the local cuisine – or simply sit back with a cold drink and enjoy the wonders of Turkey in the evening sun. The sailing season runs from mid-April to mid-November. Gentle, warm westerly winds rarely exceed 15 knots, making the area exceptionally family-friendly for couples with younger children and skippers with inexperienced crews. Throughout July and August, the summer meltem winds can blow strongly on open water, but they generally die down at night. The tidal range is only one to two feet, so tidal currents are not a concern. The normal temperature during the sailing season varies between 23°C and 26°C. A sailing holiday in Marmaris, Göcek, and Orhaniye is suitable for sailors with basic coastal navigation skills.
