From the German Baltic coast lies Germany's largest island, Rügen, which, with its varied landscape, pleasant weather conditions, and numerous marinas, is an attractive destination for Danish leisure sailors. The island is located south of Sweden and between Falster and Bornholm, making it relatively easy for Danish sailors to reach. Depending on the departure point in Denmark, Rügen can be explored over an extended weekend.
The arrival at Rügen is an impressive sight, especially along the northern coasts where vertical white cliffs dominate the scenery. The sail to the island from the sea side provides a unique experience, distinct from the view from the land. Rügen is known for its natural beauty, and a sailing trip around the island is an ideal way to experience its charm.
Breege
From the entrance at the lighthouse, there are approximately 10 nautical miles to either Breege, Wiek, or Vitte. Breege harbor is the ideal starting point for unforgettable sailing trips to Denmark, Bornholm, and Sweden. From the base, there is the opportunity for relaxed sailing in the lagoon waters with a view of the impressive coastal landscapes. The surrounding marinas offer modern facilities for recreational boating, while the rustic taverns along the coast provide a cozy atmosphere where you and your friends can end the day.
Sailing
Sailing around Rügen takes place in navigational channels, and it is recommended to respect the buoys, as the water depth on the other side is often less than half a meter. Despite potential traffic, compliance with maritime rules is crucial, and no canal certificate is required for sailing in the area.
